With 80% of the global population located in emerging markets (China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Indonesia, Egypt, Malaysia, Thailand, Columbia, Venezuela), many companies are looking for leaders to execute their business strategies there. However, “developed country” mindset does not apply to emerging markets.

Due to this, leadership talent in developed countries is not potable to emerging markets. In addition, the work cannot be handled virtually, as these markets are high contact societies, needing face-to-face a lot of the time.

There has been significant salary and job level inflation in the past 10 years, so much so that some developed countries are home-sourcing….bringing back their operations. This salary inflation is actually matching emerging markets’ country inflation.
