In junior high, I gave a speech called “Optimism, A Way of Life.” Now in the business world, I continue to agree with that speech written so long ago.
When one has an optimistic demeanor, he is capable of focusing his mind to notice the bright side of ambiguous events. After all, it is your choice to determine your attitude when events happen. How we interpret these events in our lives determines their significance to us. This interpretation of the context and situation impacts our decision making regarding how we will behave.
Each individual’s genetics, personal experiences and ingrained biases influence if he/she sees the glass half full, or half empty. This bias towards optimism will inflate one’s self-confidence, and then be self-fulfilling. This is not to say that there will not be adversity in one’s life. Instead, it is one’s attitude that overcomes adversity. This success builds further confidence.
What is your “way of life?”
