Ethics

Should those in positions of leadership be held to a higher standard of moral and ethical conduct than ordinary citizens? Those who are entrusted with leadership bear a special responsibility to uphold the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct, both publicly and privately. It is reported that after a CEO mishap (i.e., affair, arrest, etc.), company stock price falls wipe out $250 million in market capitalization.

Thus, should one ignore one’s personal character, as long as a person does the job well? I believe that you cannot divorce character from leadership. In the Spiderman movie, they say, “With great power comes great responsibility” or in Luke 12:48 it says, “To whom much is given, of him much will be required.”

Is there such thing as a “fire wall” between public and private life?
