Michael Strahan, a super star football player for the NY Giants and now famous television journalist, spoke recently. The application to the business world:

Everyone is unique, yet you need to work together because you are on the same team. You are accountable to your teammates, and you are either part of the problem or part of the solution.

However, you need to know how to treat each person based on who they are. Before the game, he would shake hands with the quarterback (Eli Manning) and tell him to “have fun.” He would then run over to the running back (Brandon Jacobs), grab him, grunt at him, and yell in his face “No One Can Tackle You…No One…You’re a Beast!!”

For a separate career, he talked about trying out to be Kelly Ripa’s co-host on the morning show. He said he had to stand out, as there were many qualified contenders. To do so during his guest host time, he wore “tear away” pants…Made quite an impression?

Do you customize your interactions with others…or just give a peanut butter spread approach?
